Dear Grant, As a registered nurse in San Francisco, I’m writing to urge swift action about the issue of San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) in San Francisco, CA, acquiring healthcare insurance coverage. This matter has adversely affected many of your constituents, experiencing difficulties affording health insurance coverage (Tulane University, 2020). The shortage of healthcare insurance coverage has brought about ominous outcomes for people and the local area. It has increased the number of individuals unfit to bear the cost of basic clinical consideration, which has demolished persistent diseases and expanded the recurrence of hospitalizations. Besides, those without health care coverage are more disposed to disregard required clinical considerations, which could adversely affect their overall health and well-being (Tolbert et al., 2020). Resolving this issue will yield several benefits, such as enhancing the overall health of individuals, easing the burden on emergency departments, and lowering healthcare costs. Ensuring access to health insurance coverage for individuals guarantees that they receive appropriate and timely medical care, which can prevent the onset of chronic illnesses and reduce hospitalization rates (WHO, 2021).

Not addressing the issue can yield several adverse effects. For example, the increased financial burden on individuals and families reduced access to medical care, increased strain on emergency departments, and worsened health outcomes. This could increase debt, bankruptcy, and financial hardship (Tolbert et al., 2020). Without health insurance coverage, individuals may be less likely to seek medical care when needed, which could result in delayed diagnosis and treatment of health conditions. This, in turn, could lead to more severe health problems and higher healthcare costs in the long run (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2021). When individuals without health insurance coverage seek medical care, they often turn to emergency departments, which can result in overcrowding and longer wait times. This could negatively impact the quality of care for all patients, not just those without health insurance coverage (Tolbert et al., 2020).

Without timely and appropriate medical care, individuals without health insurance coverage may experience worsened health outcomes, including higher rates of chronic illnesses, hospitalizations, and mortality (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2021). The inadequacy of access to healthcare insurance coverage has an impact on the healthcare industry at the institutional, local, state, and national levels, according to Raghupathi and Raghupathi (2020). It has been related to the ascent of healthcare costs, expanded hospitalization rates, and decreased by and large healthcare quality (Crowley and Bornstein 2019). Strategies proposed to address this issue include expanding Medicaid, creating more affordable healthcare plans, and incentivizing individuals to purchase health insurance coverage (Crowley & Bornstein, 2019). The cultural sensitivity principle involves understanding and respecting the cultural beliefs, practices, and values of the community being served. It was considered by ensuring that the proposed solution is developed with an understanding of the cultural values and beliefs of the community (Stubbe, 2020).

Providing appropriate medical care to individuals without health insurance coverage can be challenging, leading to ethical dilemmas and cultural conflicts. Additionally, inadequate resources can make it challenging for healthcare providers to offer high-quality care to all patients. My experiences as a nurse have guided the planning of resources and risk assessment for addressing this economic issue. I have observed the consequences of the scarcity of access to healthcare insurance coverage for both individuals and healthcare institutions. Consequently, I proposed some recommendations for improving healthcare insurance coverage access. I conducted a risk analysis to identify possible difficulties and devised strategies to mitigate them.

One particular experience that stands out is when a patient came to the emergency department with a severe case of pneumonia. As a result, the hospital had to absorb the cost of its care, which strained its resources and made it difficult to provide care to other patients. I strongly urge you to take action to address the issue of accessing healthcare insurance coverage.
